Having a pulse, does not make you alive.

Henry David Thoreau wrote;

"To be awake, is to be alive."

For this sentence alone, it is clear to see that Thoreau did not live among people. He lived along side by side with nature and it's gentle grace. I've witnessed first hand people who claim to be alive but who lack the drive and will to grasp life and live it to it's fullest potential. We all share common goals, and will accomplish many of the same things, but do we then lose what it is that truly makes us different? Where is the line between living the life you want and living the life others want you to live?

Having a pulse, does not make you alive.

"To-Do list"

Be born into the world
as a boy or a girl
learn to walk
learn to speak
learn to smile
learn to eat

lose a tooth
skin your knee
catch a cold
fight a bully

run away
come back home
find yourself
find your own

have a drink
do some drugs
sit and think
fall in love

have your fill
of money spent
pay the bills
pay the rent

raise some kids
watch them grow
close your eyes
six feet below

Leave the world the way you came in
full of love--free of sin

Don't give life to ugly things.

Indian mystic guru and philosopher Osho (Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh) once wrote...

"Give Life to things which are beautiful.
Don't give life to ugly things.
You don't have much time, much energy to waste.
With such a small life, with such a small energy source,
it is simply stupid to waste it in sadness, in anger, in hatred, and in jealousy."

Not only is this a phenomenal piece of advice, but an intimately gratifying way of life.

For every ounce of happiness your love brings,
it is a lesson learned.
It is a new beginning.
It is a new day.
If only for a little while your heart were mine,
it would be time well spent.
For your love is that which knows no time
and makes my heart content.

"Give thy thoughts no tongue."

William Shakespeare once wrote;

"Give thy thoughts no tongue."

In other words, keep it to yourself.

My biggest problem is my constant need to express myself through words. Since the day I could speak I have heard "Gee that Ashley, she sure can talk!" I was placed on this earth with so much to say. So this is me, continuing to do so in the hopes that you can relate in some way. I've been reading poetry as far back as I can recall and to this day I think the same thing...

Oh how I wish I could write poetry.

A poem, by definition, is "a verbal composition designed to convey experiences, ideas, or emotions in a vivid and imaginative way, characterized by the use of language chosen for its sound and suggestive power and by the use of literary techniques such as meter, metaphor, and rhyme."

To be honest, when It comes to my relationship to poetry all rules get tossed out to sea. I am in love and for this pure reason I am inspired.

My own personal goal is to write poetry.
I'll also post some of my photos. I just simply need something to believe in, something for myself to go to and to prove that I can finish something I've started. I cannot promise you this will be work to compare with the likes of Robert Frost, but it will convey my heart, typed out for you on the internet for all to see. Some may call that brave, to be honest I just don't at all mind sharing with you my thoughts without a care.

Think for yourself, feel what you feel and NEVER apologize for it.

To all of those courageous few, who are unafraid to love, this is for you.
forever yours,
Ashley
